The poppy is far from just a fashion staple that is reborn every Canadian November.
The red flower, being the staple flower of Flanders Fields, serves as a symbolic reminder of bloodshed. Many Canadian soldiers sacrificed their lives, passing away right there in Flanders Fields in a bed of red poppy flowers, just to serve/protect our Canadian Nation in the Great War (1914-1918).
